The Willow Tree is a DAO (community) of likeminded ravers with a shared passion for underground electronic music and high quality event production. Our goal is to crowdsource the funding, design, build and running of the world’s first community-owned network of touring events and physical/digital venues. Almost every aspect of the project (locations, sound systems, lineups, etc.) will be voted on and decided by the community. Each member will own a share of the business and be rewarded with free guest passes in perpetuity. Co-own and co-create the global home for underground electronic culture.

In its simplest form, a decentralised autonomous organisation is a group of friends with a shared bank account. The community raises funds together, creates proposals for how the funds could be used, and then votes on which proposals help achieve their collective goal. Blockchain technology allows these groups to form with greater efficiency and legitimacy by embedding their governance into a digital contract and storing funds in a multi-signature bank account.

Currently, membership is free and you can join by entering our Discord server. Later down the line, we will implement a token-based membership; people will need to hold enough of our currency to become a member and unlock the benefits. Anyone who contributes to the sucess of the community will be rewarded with our token (currency). In other words, you could join the membership just by contributing, or you could buy your way in by purchasing enough of our cryptocurrency directly from the community treasury. Again, the specifics of this are yet to be decided.
Our goals for October involve growing our community to 500 members and forming our first creative fundraising team. We're looking for proactive networkers, growth hackers and marketeers to grow the community with expert speed and precision. Aside from growing the community, engaging in the Discord will boost our chances of success. Encouraging discussions and participation from other members will make people feel more welcome and influential within the community. All participation is tracked using our MEE6 discord bot so we can fairly reward members with free tickets and tokens which can appreciate as our community grows.
